What is EC FAN ?

EC Technology stands for Electronically Commutated and combines AC and DC voltages. What’s more, EC Fan is essentially a fan with a brushless DC motor with two best technologies:

  1. Firstly, the motor runs on a DC voltage, but with a normal AC supply. When it is used in AC applications, the power can convert AC,but these DC motors have low power consumption.
  2. Secondly, the EC motor incorporates voltage transformation within the motor. The non-rotating part of the motor (stator) is extended to make room for an electronic PCB board. It also transforms power from AC to DC.

In a words,we can see EC fan combines the benefits of AC and DC fans, using a brushless DC motor controlled by a printed circuit board. It is powered by an AC supply, which is converted to DC for the motor. The secondary magnetic field from permanent magnets makes EC motors more efficient than AC induction motors. Additionally, EC fans can be programmed to spin at varying speeds based on user needs.

Now Europe and the United States are using EC Fans. (Another: EC AC inverter series fan, equivalent to “DC brushless fan” plus “DC power supply”. There are no need to buy DC power which can save cost.

The lightweight design of the motor rotor part, so EC fan | EC cooling fan can reduce bearing wear during operation. Optimizing drive mode and winding, the rise of running temperature, and locking temperature are significantly reduced, so EC Fan life exceeds the ordinary AC fan by 50%.

They are also used in air conditioners, heat pumps, furnace fans, dehumidifiers, vending machines, ice makers, commercial appliances, chillers, ventilation duct fans, condenser units, and smoke and exhaust extraction fans. However, the primary applications for motor-driven elements in both residential and commercial settings are refrigeration and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning).
